step by step breakdown of ground defense (purple belt)
From the ground, lay on your left side propping yourself up with your left elbow
Lift your right leg and point it towards your opponent
Follow  your opponent with your right leg and kick him away if necessary (covering 180 degree area)
Swing your right foot over to the ground bringing your left foot up (essentially changing sides)
Follow  your opponent with your left leg and kick him away if necessary (covering 180 degree area)
